We just watched a feature on PBS about Kite Boarding--now I would guess Bert and Jesse both may be interested in giving that a try--what a way to fly!

Aren't computer problems the most frustrating thing--and they seem to occur at those perfect moments when you are on a dead line and need to get something done. I lost Word once--totally lost it and spent several hours on getting it back and barely met my dead line. I have visited your eighth Giant Squid Summer School lens and enjoyed Voyageurs National Park Information and Photos very much--of course I loved it, it's about God's country![in reply to Tipi]

Everyone should have someone to teach them how to make lenses and make great ones. He's doing okay and not pulling out any hair that I know of. Jay was back in town last weekend and stays at Bert's when he's here. Would like to get to see him one of these times. Spent many hours talking to Jay and you can get as deep as you want with him, or totally light hearted. Great guy!

    Men of Blue by bert
    A stagnant pool
    The earth so ruled
And ships that lay at anchor
    My mind sets sails
    I'll ring ships bells
The tide is right I thank her
    My crew on board
    The wind their Lord
It fills our sails and spirit
    We laugh today
    And cross this bay
While men ashore can't hear it
    Green gives to blue
    Our course is true
Tho' no port is on our charts
    The bow plows way
    Through cosmic spray
    Destiny beat in our hearts
    We sail onward
    And off starboard
    Dolphins hail us as brothers
    Oh that that's true
    Oh Men of Blue
For them so more than others
    The decks are clear
    Tight riggings hear
A song that comes from higher
    This ship sails on
    Part of that song
    Healing to cosmic choir
    This stellar ship
    It needs no whip
    Commands are never shouted
    Its spirit crew
    These Men of Blue
    Ride currents which weren't doubted
    We hold it true
    Us Men of Blue
That the sky and sea are one
    We're free to roam
    Through star-lit foam
To a bright and future sun

Bert will be joining us on Squidoo. He will be a co-writer with me at times ... but will still have some of his own lenses. I thought it was very nice of him to say that I will get all of the profit that is made on the lenses...that's fair for now and can always be changed. I'm looking forward to working with Bert on Squidoo lenses when time permits, we are both busy with our own lives...but plan to get together on this soon. --- Wish us success!

It is a sunny day today, so things are looking up, maybe up into the sky... That Seth seems to make sense when he says something. Some of what he teaches is probably because he's learned from trial and error and has the ability to turn an error into something redemptive to some degree. I guess that is basic game theory, minimize the maximum loss and maximize the minumum gain.
Let's see, it seems I came by for another reason, hmm.....what could it have been? Oh, yes! Now I remember, congratulations on the successful birth of your new grandson![in reply to Tipi]

I think this is thought worthy - Quote: by Seth Godin

    "It doesn't hurt to ask"

Actually, it does hurt. It does hurt to ask the wrong way, to ask without preparation, to ask without permission. It hurts because you never get another chance to ask right.

If you run into Elton John at the diner and say, "Hey Elton, will you sing at my daughter's wedding?" it hurts any chance you have to get on Elton John's radar. You've just trained him to say no, you've taught him you're both selfish and unrealistic.

If a prospect walks into your dealership and you walk up and say, "Please pay me $200,000 right now for this Porsche," you might close the sale. But I doubt it. More likely than not you've just pushed this prospect away, turned the sliver of permission you had into a wall of self-protection.

Every once in a while, of course, asking out of the blue pays off. So what? That is dwarfed by the extraordinary odds of failing. Instead, invest some time and earn the right to ask. Do your homework. Build connections. Make a reasonable request, something easy and mutually beneficial. Yes leads to yes which just maybe leads to the engagement you were actually seeking.

OhMe, right now there are nor stores or food places open downtown in Fargo because of the flooding of the Red River. - Gangsta's Subs has been forgiven for the rent that is owed at this point, and the heat is being paid but will have to be repaid at some time. - Both Jay and Bert are working elsewhere right now, and their workers. - They have also been helping in the flood fight that would destroy if the diking were to break. - So far so good! Many people have been evacuated voluntarily or mandatory. Our senior citizen, patients, and disabled have been transported to safe places. - At this time we are on high alert in Fargo and will be for several days to come. - Thanks for stopping by! :)

There is a building crew working across the street from Gangsta's Subs, so hopeful the crew will become regulars at the shop. - I'll talk to him again one of these days and will let you know how things are going. I really should give Jay a call!!!

Drifter, if I could bring one to you, I would do so my friend! - Nice to see you and I sure do enjoy your leathers...and you do have a great sense of humor about printing out your own money. - ChefKeem seems to think so too!

    Stop by any time!

In talking to Bert recently, he told me that business at Gangsta's isn't keeping the doors open. - Jay put up his pick-up for collateral with the owner of the property. It's not sounding good. - I hope things will pick up for Gangsta's Subs, because I just hate to see a good thing go down.

Been awhile since I've had a sub, so I should get downtown and have one soon!!!

I forgot you were from Fargo. Most of my family live around there. You've had some bad weather so far this winter.
I'll check out the subs next summer on my anual trek to Minnesota / North Dakota (when its warm).
    Great lens

Thanks for the comments on my Defining Stress Lens.

Oh yes! Bert has changed his ways and is in business. With the economy the way it is, there are a lot of businesses in Fargo having to close their doors. Really hope that Jay and Bert won't have to do the same. - As they say: Nothing ventured, nothing gained!

I hope Mr. Henderson's "Maynard" days are behind him. Where I grew up in S. Calif., castor beans grew wild. We were deathly afraid of 'em because of our parents' dire warnings. This lens holds a fascinating blend of material. 5* from an "OG."
